A Bridal’s Blog

A bridal blog. Sounds like the worst idea ever!!!

I started RunThroughSprinklers back in 2010 and was a terrible blogger. I still might be! But I recently got engaged and wanted to so badly remember this special season in life. I thought of some options, like, writing down in a private journal all my venting thoughts about wedding planning. But that seemed too timely and could possibly be a negative thing. Or I thought about just taking a massive amount of photos and creating a “wedding planning season” scrap book. But then I remember, I had you. And who has time for scrap book nowadays? It is a lot easier to update a blog and right now…I will take the easy route!

Overall, I just want to remember my funny thoughts about wedding planing. Maybe 10 years from now I will look up this blog and print off all my entires and make a “wedding planning season” book for my own daughter/daughters to enjoy and laugh at.

As far as right now, the bridal life is so sweet and exciting that I want to capture every moment and make it special.

avec amour, the bride

the holiday.

Every girl likes the movie The Holiday. Every girl. If not, then something is wrong with her.

Jude Law (Graham): I have another scenario for you – I’m in love with you. I apologize for the blunt delivery, but as problematic as this fact may be, I’m in love… with YOU. I’m not feeling this because you’re leaving, and not because it feels good to feel this way… which, by the way, it does, or did before you went off like that. I can’t figure out the mathematics of this, I just know I love you. I can’t believe how many times I’m saying it! And I never thought I’d feel this way again, so that’s pretty phenomenal. And I realize that I come as a package deal: 3 for the price of 1. I know my package, perhaps in the light of day, isn’t all that wonderful, but I finally know what I want and that, in itself, is a miracle. And what I want is YOU.

And once again, what is my deal with quotes lately? really? It’s getting ridiculous. I’ll eventually come up with my own quotes one day, promise. But for now, love quotes form Jude Law will have to do. Of course , we must remind ourselves it’s just a movie (like one of the best movies everrr) and  we don’t need to get hyped up by his sweetly sayings.

The truth: Love wins. Always and every time.

This scripture is about as good as it gets for us people on earth who make mistakes; and even if we don’t return the love, God. always. loves. and God always wins.

Romans 8:38-39 (NIV) says it perfectly : “for i am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to seperate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

the simple rule is: if it’s not good, then don’t think it or say it

a few thought before bed….

lady like:  show integrity.  reveal truth.  honor beauty.  act classy.  speak sweetly.

Psalm 1:2 (message)

Instead you thrill to God’s Word,
you chew on Scripture day and night.
You’re a tree replanted in Eden,
bearing fresh fruit every month,
Never dropping a leaf,
always in blossom”

Phil 1:6 (message)

“There has never been the slightest doubt in my mind that the God who started this great work in you would keep at it and bring it to a flourishing finish on the very day Christ Jesus appears.”

Proverbs 31: 25:16 (message)

“Her clothes are well-made and elegant,
and she always faces tomorrow with a smile.
When she speaks she has something worthwhile to say,
and she always says it kindly.”

sweet dreams…goodnight

Turkish Delight

I am a sweet tooth kinda girl. One of my favorite things about birthdays, or big events, is the left over cake that our family always eats in the morning for breakfast. My mother and I are experts at cake for b-fast.

Second favorite thing about sweets is when my relatives come over from Turkey and gift my family with all sorts of nuts, treats, and of course, Turkish Delight.

My close friends can quote me when they ask me what fun thing we should do for a Friday night…I usually say, “let’s go get coffee or dessert somewhere” It’s just one of the simple things in life that I just love and puts a smile on my face.

“I prefer to regard a dessert as I would imagine the perfect woman:  subtle, a little bittersweet, not blowsy and extrovert.  Delicately made up, not highly rouged.  Holding back, not exposing everything and, of course, with a flavor that lasts.  ~Graham Kerr”

“Put ‘eat candy’ at the top of your list of things to do today. That way, at least you’ll get one thing done.”

Signed, Sealed, Delivered I’m Yours.

It’s finally fall! and..

You’ve Got Mail.

This particular post is dedicated to my favorite fall movie- You’ve Got Mail. Something about this movie connects something in my brain to adore Meg Ryan and Tom Hank’s unknown, New Yorkish type of love.

Joe: “Don’t you love New York in the fall? It makes me wanna buy school supplies. I would send you a bouquet of newly sharpened pencils if I knew your name and address. On the other hand, this not knowing has its charms.”

Joe: “You know, sometimes I wonder…”

Kathleen: “what?”

Joe: “Well…if I hadn’t been “Fox Books” and you hadn’t been “The Shop Around the Corner,” and you and I had just met…”

Kathleen: “I know.”

Joe: “Yeah, yeah. I would’ve asked for our number. And I wouldn’t have been able to wait 24 hours before calling you up and saying, Hey how about….oh how about some coffee, or drinks, or dinner, or a movie…for as long as we both shall live?

It’s strange that somehow, in the oddest of circumstances, (being complete business enemies) their extreme hatred for each other was to no significance (eventually) when they realized they were one another’s pen pals. Sure, it’s a weird concept to fall in love via e-mail. But if you replace the idea of the internet e-mails with just simple love letters…it makes total sense. How could she not fall in love with him (and forgive him for being a complete jerk) after all his thoughtful e-mails (love letters).

Letter’s are clearly important. Vital.

Fall.Falling in love. You’ve Got Mail.

“Honey, I love myself a sequin”- Rachel Zoe

think: shiny, glittery, feminine, trendy, showy, and sequins.

HISTORY TIME: 1284 - The word sequin actually comes from the Arabic sikka which means coin or die. Monetary sequins were first produced in Venice  in 1284 where they were known as zecchino. The French changed the Venetian spelling to sequin and this is the form used in English.

Not only is Kate Hudson (and of course, J. Anniston) one of my favorite actresses, but Hudson’s photo shoot from Harper’s BAZAAR Magazine (issue January 2010) is forever kept in my bedroom in a special place. I love this photo shoot for many reasons: the actress, the flowers, the sequins, and the hair.
